Do you know that excitement you get when you open a letter or card from a dear friend? it is a special sort of feeling that is hard to duplicate with an email. You have the opportunity to hold a tactile object in your hands that someone else took the time to put together and mail to you. This is the sort of connectivity that is so important between family and friends, and if you are like me you have a shoe box you will save the special pieces in. Our goal is to help you send beautiful items that too will end up being cherished.
Dianna & Emily
Two great minds think alike? What about two great minds think complementary? Dianna and Emily both attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, studying architecture, including a semester abroad together in Krakow, Poland. After graduating in the spring of 2008, they both found themselves engaged and planning a fall wedding. They bounced design ideas back and forth and ultimately ended up each creating beautiful weddings full of lovely details and paper goodness. Both being encouraged by friends to start creating wedding materials for others, they got together and decided to work as a pair constructing the best custom designs that two creative minds can produce. With a unique graphic perspective guided by their architecture background their designs typically speak in terms of space, layering, hierarchy, texture, and balance.
A Bit About Us
We would easily pass up cake but can’t live without ice cream! We both enjoy playing with our dogs [border collie/Australian shepherd mix sisters, and a hound rescue]! We love being outdoors – Emily and her husband Daniel are avid Mountain Bikers, and they make it a family affair with their dogs and their young daughter Anna. Dianna gets her nature fix through trail running or hiking, in her free time she and her husband Peter enjoy working on their craftsman style home and are currently in the process of taking their AREs to become registered architects.
What We Do
We dream of new ideas, we sketch, and we experiment. We want to create designs that speak to the personality of the couple or event, that use appropriate materials, and that will truly evoke happiness and excitement for the receiver. Our designs range from wedding invitations to custom hankies, and we will try most anything. Sustainability is important to us, so instead of using extra envelopes when they may not be needed we look to new materials or unique printing techniques to showcase a lovely design. We use tree-free cotton paper or American made paper with recycled content. We incorporate the use of letterpress printing, laser etching | cutting, hand stitching on a variety of materials such as wood, fabric, and recycled | vintage materials when applicable.
Our C&P letterpress
We own and operate a 10×15 Chandler Price platen press. This allows us to offer hand fed and hand printed letterpress items to our clients. We have complete control from design to final print. The text and design have been pressed into the paper leaving a tactile impression you can see and feel. This vintage printing technique unlike any other and we encourage you to check the blog often to see our newest letterpress projects in action.
How We Do It
Everyone has a story to tell and we can’t wait to hear yours. We will first set up a time and place to get together if you live in/around East Tennessee. Otherwise a phone call will be just fine. It is so helpful for us to hear about your plans and your personalities – what makes you tick. Details, details, please! We may ask that you email us links or images that have inspired you throughout your planning.
At this point we can discuss other details we can help you with
- save the dates
- thank you cards
- reception details
- edge painting
After we have a bit of time to come up with a direction we will provide you with an estimate and a couple of options based on your budget and your style. If you choose to use us we will send you a contract. We require 50% down prior to printing and the remaining 50% upon delivery.
The sooner the better it is for us to get involved – the more time we have to brain storm the better final product we can produce. The professionals recommend sending your invitations out 8 -12 weeks prior to your wedding date.
Pricing is tricky as most jobs are custom, although we do have a few templates to get you started; visit our shop. For a quote on a custom job please contact us at email@example.com.
We will jump at the opportunity to work on non-wedding projects too; Such as marketing materials for small businesses, new address cards, holiday cards, party invitations, stationary, baby announcements, and other beautiful graphics for any occasion, or for that sake – architectural design and interiors.
